Band 7: Highly Specialist Paediatric Dietitian - Inherited Metabolic Disease
Permanent, full time
We have a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic dietitian with a genuine interest in working with children and families to join our dynamic team of paediatric dietitians supporting patients and their families living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases.
The role supports patients and their families with a range of conditions, and the successful applicant will be supported to develop their confidence and competence in managing an area/condition of the caseload initially. A clear induction and development plan will be developed alongside the successful applicant to ensure that you receive the education, training, and protected time to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive environment.
We would encourage anyone with an interest in inherited metabolic disease, looking to work in this area to get in touch, and we would be flexible and adaptable for the right candidate. We would also consider a specialist dietitian willing to work towards highly specialist level.
Applicants should be HCPC registered dietitians, who have obtained substantial clinical post registration dietetic experience within paediatrics, and who are car drivers with access to a car.
Main duties of the job
There will be opportunities for service improvement, audit and research, and to develop your influencing and communication skills to raise the profile of dietetics within the team and organisation.
You will be involved in providing training for students, dietetic colleagues and a range of healthcare and other professionals.
The role will include clinical and service leadership and line management responsibilities. You will have peer support from team leaders across the dietetic department.
Work areas may change, so applicants do need to be flexible.
We provide a range of in and outpatient specialist services, including neonates, nutrition support, allergies, respiratory, metabolic services and home enteral feeding. The post holder will cover a variety of work within the team, including working at offsite locations across the region (Yorkshire and Humber) e.g. undertaking home visits, patient engagement and education, training with health care professionals and school/nursery staff.
The team works closely with our general paediatric team, and opportunities exist for closer working and collaboration both clinically and developmentally.
About us
This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion and interest in metabolic disorders to work as part of an effective MDT, with experienced clinicians, to provide important dietary treatment to a range of conditions.
The team in Bradford work alongside consultants from Manchester to deliver specialist care to over 500 patients living with metabolic conditions across Yorkshire and Humber. Work involves supporting patients proactively with managing their condition through dietary treatment, and delivering care as patients grow and develop.
Bradford's Nutrition & Dietetic Service comprises of a team of over 50 Dietitians working in Acute, Community and Primary Care settings, supported by an excellent clerical team with good IT facilities. Professional development opportunities exist within the Dietetic department, and clinical effectiveness, audit and professional standards are given high priority. The Department takes 'B' and 'C' Placement students.
We use values based recruitment as an indicator at interview and you may be asked to do a presentation if you are shortlisted.
Bradford is a vibrant, diverse, multicultural city with a wide range of entertainment and leisure activities available locally. There are good road/rail networks to Leeds and the M62 corridor, with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and the South Pennines.
