Job summary

Tameside Home Treatment and Safe Haven has an exciting opportunity for an RMHN interested in developing leadership skills in a diverse role. The Home Treatment Team provides support to patients and their loved ones during some of the most challenging times of their lives. As the Deputy Manager, you'll be essential in supporting staff and wider services to delivered targeted and intensive interventions to prevent hospital admission. You'll also support in the implementation of a robust gatekeeping approach, encouraging you to develop your clinical risk assessment skills, sensitivity and negotiation skills.

**Please note this is a 24/7 service when the Safe Haven is active. This is currently non-operational until further notice**

Main duties of the job

To support the team manager in ensuring that care is delivered in accordance with the Professionals Code of Conduct and reflects the requirements of the Pennine Care.

To deputise for the HTT manager in clinical decision making and delegation when not available

To have protected time as to complete managerial tasks.

Where possible be supernumerary. When required to undertake the duties of a Band 6 HTT senior practitioner this includes the gatekeeping role.

The purpose is to be the first contact when mental health professionals are considering admitting a service user to an inpatient mental health bed and to assess the appropriateness of each request with consideration around utilising the HTT as an alternative to admission).

Education/Qualification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse Mental Health
  • Registered with the NMC


Desirable

  • Accredited skills based training.
  • Training related to management, supervision and staff development.
  • Educated to degree leve
  • Mentorship / practice leadership qualification.


Experience

Essential

  • Proven post registration experience working in older age mental health services
  • Demonstrable experience working as a band 6
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working with services user with serious mental health problems and their families.
  • Experience of coordinating and managing difficult incidents on the ward


Desirable

  • Providing Supervision
  • Leading / coordinating multi-disciplinary teamwork
  • Staff management
  • Managing Budget
  • Service development/ managing change


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of dementia care and treatment
  • Knowledge and experience around clinical risk taking

  • Knowledge and experience of end of life care
