Job summary
We are looking to recruit a full time (37.5 hours per week) Band 7 Nurse to lead our nursing team within Gynaecology Outpatients. This post is primarily based at our St Mary's Hospital site. This is a Monday to Friday service.
Our ideal candidate will have management or leadership experience, evidence of change management, enjoy helping others and be able to work as an integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in order to improve our patient experience. This role will enable you to build upon your skills in leadership, people management and finance within a supportive clinical environment.
Our clinics are busy and our service includes leading the outpatient Colposcopy, Fertility, Hysteroscopy and Rapid Access Clinics as well as Gynaecological Oncology, all General Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine.
The Charge Nurse is expected to work closely with the administrative and medical teams, gynaecology ward team and Termination of Pregnancy Service, Deputy Lead Nurse and Nurse Specialists.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring high standards of care are maintained for our patients attending the department. Your primary responsibility will be to take charge of the department whilst providing support and development for the nursing team along with having the resilience to meet day to day challenges.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their management skills, supported by the Deputy Lead Nurse and Lead Nurse.

Main duties of the job
- Lead a team to deliver high quality, effective, individualised nursing care to all patients undergoing gynaecology out patient assessments, investigations and procedures, ensuring a safe environment and providing a high level of information and support to patients.
- Provide professional and operational leadership on the department, leading by example.
- Manage nursing standards and performance.
- Develop and maintain the highest nursing care and take remedial action when standards of care are not met.
- Take responsibility for the department's nursing and supplies budget.
