Job summary

Cornwall Health and Care Partnership is committed to supporting the development of placement expansion for students across the health sector in the Southwest. You will work within a well-established team who have developed a strong networked community of practice across various providers promoting placement expansion in nursing and allied health sectors.

To support our objectives the team are looking to recruit a Practice Educator to work across the health and care sector. This opportunity is temporary for the next 12 months with secondments and flexible working considered. Those with experience of working within the primary care or social care sectors are encouraged to apply.

The role will involve working with the Programme Lead, Lead Practice Educators, clinical placement areas across CFT/RCHT, partner organisations and higher education institutions to ensure the development of high quality learning environments. The post holder will work alongside other colleagues to support student and apprenticeship placements.

The person we are looking for will have; a strong clinical background with recent clinical experience, excellent communication skills, ability to engage and influence at all levels, demonstrate a passion for education and act as a professional role model. Healthcare professionals from any staff group will be considered for this post. We will provide appropriate support and opportunities for your continued development.

Main duties of the job

The primary purpose of the role is to provide practice education support within a system wide team aiming to increase placement capacity for all non-medical undergraduate learners. You will enhance the education, training and support given to all non-medical pre-registration learners across the system. This includes providing advice and guidance, quality assurance and development of new practice placements. The development and monitoring of supervision and assessment in practice in keeping with the standards and requirements of professional regulatory bodies.

The team will work within various sectors and support a designated area with a clear focus on placement expansion and sustainability across all sectors within East, Central and West Cornwall.The role will be hosted by the Education and Training Department at CFT with positions across various sites and sectors available to support increased capacity. Working closely alongside existing teams responsible for service and staff development. A close working relationship with all Higher Education Institution partners is also a key requirement of the role.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Current professional registration - NMC, HCPC
  • Professional qualification - RMN, RNLD, RNC, OT, PT, SLT
  • Educated to degree level in a health related field
  • Post graduate teaching qualification or equivalent, or willingness to work towards.


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of mentoring, supervising and assessing healthcare students in the practice setting
  • Experience of working across professional and organisational boundaries


Desirable

  • Experience of developing and implementing new systems and procedures


Skills

Essential

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to engage and build effective relationships at all levels with stakeholders
