Job summary

As a band 6 Physiotherapist working within our team you will be situated in the heart of a Children's therapy centre working alongside a dynamic team of Children's Physio's, Occupational therapists, speech and language therapist, dieticians, orthoptists and Orthotists.

The role is to cover maternity leave for a 12 month period.

The role will involve the management of children and young people with neurodevelopmental and musculoskeletal conditions from birth to 19 years who are already established within the service. This will be in a variety of community locations such as schools and colleges. There will also be the opportunity to support the management of new patients referred with neurodevelopmental and musculoskeletal conditions.

The team upholds a supportive environment to nurture personal and team development to ensure person centred, high quality care. We have regular peer support and supervision sessions.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of role
  • To manage an existing caseload of children under the Paediatric Physiotherapy service (maternity cover)
  • The role will also involve the physiotherapy assessment management of new patients referred with musculoskeletal conditions and neurodevelopmental conditions
  • . The post holder will demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning skills and be able to interpret and analyse the results of treatment in order to modify accordingly.
  • This role is based at the Bury Living Well centre but will also involve home visits and school visits if appropriate. Ability to travel between sites is essential
  • The post holder will adhere to the clinical governance framework and be actively involved in quality improvement projects and improving user experience.
  • There will be a supportive role helping to supervise students, assistants and education colleagues.
  • The post holder will be expected to demonstrate excellent 2-way communication between carers, education and social services staff and other health care workers.
  • This post holder will require knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • Knowledge of paediatric equipment would be desirable but the post holder could be supported to gain this knowledge whilst in the role.

We have a comprehensive supervision structure and training schedule. The team also works closely with education and local authority colleagues.

The team also networks with other local Paediatric services for training and service development.

Qulaifications

Essential

  • HCPC registration
  • Degree in Physiotherapy


Desirable

  • Relevant post graduate training / courses in specific clinical areas appropriate to the post
  • Experience of hydrotherapy
  • Evidence of postural management training
  • member of the APCP


Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

  • Previous experience across a broad range of junior rotations
  • Knowledge of areas of clinical governance including quality and risk management
  • Basic understanding of computers and applications such as word, excel and power point
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and logical manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven organisational skills including time management, effective delegation and prioritisation and the ability to complete a task
  • Knowledge of trust policies
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • Teaching and supervisory experience
  • Able to travel between sites
  • Specialist knowledge in Paediatric anatomy and physiology to support relevant clinical skills
  • Ability to work with and motivate others within a team
  • Ability to work within a stressful and unpredictable environment

  • Service development experience
  • Experience of working with electronic paper records
