Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Registered Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist to join the Adur, Arun and Worthing(AAW) Group Treatment Programme service.

We are a multi-disciplinary team within the Assessment and Treatment Service providing specialist assessment and psychologically-informed group interventions, delivering part of the care pathway for clients with complex emotional difficulties. We run generic psychoeducational groups using evidence-base approaches as well as specialist interventions such as the STEPPS Programme.

To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID.

Main duties of the job

As lead practitioners holding a caseload, we promote a trauma informed approach to client care, focused on building therapeutic relationships to support people to develop safe, effective mood and emotion management coping skills.

These are exciting times to join the team. We are involved in contributing to introduction of additional therapy modalities (Structured Clinical Management (SCM); DBT) as part of the current development of the personality disorder / complex emotional difficulties pathway implementation, and community transformation.

We are a well-established and respected service, and take great pride in our work. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Effective communication and listening skills, an interest in group work and a commitment to providing the best possible care for clients in the community is key. You will also be passionate about involving people, family and friends in care and you will share our dedication to improving services and delivering high quality care.

About us

We are keen to support staff wellbeing and clinical effectiveness, and can offer you a comprehensive induction package in a supportive working environment, with excellent post basic educational opportunities and preceptorship system if you are more recently qualified. You will be offered relevant training to support your professional development and provision of interventions for working in this clinical area. We have a robust supervision (individual and group) and appraisal system, including access to complex case formulation.

The AAW Group Treatment Programme service is based over three sites: Littlehampton, Shoreham and Worthing. The post holder will be required to travel across sites.

We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen

This post offers a Golden Hello, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of 2000. (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Protocol document).
