Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist, to join the Children's Speech and Language Therapy service. This post is suitable for a newly qualified or generalist Speech and Language Therapist, hoping to develop clinical skills in the assessment and management of children with a range of communication needs.

The post holder will work across Bradford in a range of settings including nurseries, schools and patient homes.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide Speech and Language Therapy to a defined clinical caseload
  • To work and network in the population of Bradford District Care Trust
  • To clinically support students/assistants and others in the delivery of the SLT Service

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Speech and Language Therapist with Health Professionals Council
  • Registered with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy


Desirable

  • Due to graduate


Training

Essential

  • Achieved / close to achieving clinical competencies of RCSLT


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of multi professional/multi-agency working (relevant to client group)
  • Experience of innovative practice and involvement in a project or service that delivered this


Desirable

  • Experience of working with children in educational settings
  • Experience of delivering communication assessments and interventions for a range of children/young people


Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Written Communication Skills
  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of a broad range of appropriate assessment and intervention approaches
  • Working with interpreters and bilingual assistants
  • Contribution to group work


Attitude and Approach

Essential

  • Able to work in a variety of locations / situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including observation, listening, empathy, communicating sensitive issues, team building
  • Demonstrates leadership behaviour / shows initiative
