We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity, for an experienced senior nurse to provide professional and clinical nursing leadership and operational management to the colorectal services .
We are seeking a highly motivated enthusiastic Lead Nurse to join our developing and expanding team in both the colorectal and straight to test (STT) colorectal services - to co-ordinate Nursing provision for the service within Salford Care Organisation. Liaising with and working closely with other care organisations and other external organisations as required.
The successful applicant will be integral to a well-established multi-disciplinary team working closely with the Colorectal Consultants, junior doctors, advanced practitioners and other Nurse Specialists within the department and at other NCA sites and externally as required. They will be responsible for service development, improvement, and clinical governance.
Be a clinical leader in the designated specialty and have extensive experience of the colorectal pathways. They will provide expert clinical knowledge, support, supervision and guidance to the Specialist teams within colorectal and STT and the wider multidisciplinary teams who care for the patients, families and carers with Colorectal disease or who are undergoing investigation.
Supporting the colorectal Nursing team in enhancing the teaching and learning that is provided within the service and ensure this is shared both within the NCA and externally if needed.
Main duties of the job
- Strong focus ensuring clinical excellence whilst simplifying pathways and improving patient outcomes, all of which requires good team working and collaboration with stakeholders and a strong leadership presence.
- Ability to prioritise your own workload effectively and be accountable for the clinical and operational delivery of clinical standards in line with the Trust, Greater Manchester Cancer and National Cancer standards. In addition you will liaise with Local colorectal Nursing Teams to develop and promote seamless standardised pathways of care.
- Responsible and accountable for the clinical and operational day to day delivery of clinical standards of care and management of the nursing workforce, in accordance with set objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints, that ensures delivery of a high quality, patient centered service that meets the patients needs.
- Work closely with MDT which will include both ward based and out patient caseloads. They will be responsible for Specialist Nursing service and maintaining strong links with the external centres and agencies that they may be working in collaboration with to continue to provide outstanding care.
- A sound knowledge of colorectal disease and management and be clinically competent in this area. The post holder will have experience of colorectal surgery surgery, palliative care management, cancer care pathways and hold excellent communication skills.
