Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust for a Research Nurse to be a part of the Trust's R&D team. The Trust's R&D function is growing and we are looking for an individual to contribute to this growth.The post-holder will be required to work collaboratively with the research team and wider multi-disciplinary teams in the identification, set up delivery and close down of research studies in line with regulation and statute. This will involve the identification, recruitment, education and monitoring of participants in research along with the timely collation and documentation of accurate data. The position will also require the post-holder to work in the Weymouth Research Hub delivering Vaccine Clinical Trials and other Commercial Research.The candidate will have a mature attitude, excellent communication skills, an understanding of scientific protocols and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Main duties of the job

The co-ordination of Portfolio research studies conducted by Dorset HealthCare. Working closely with the investigators and research staff, the post holder will be responsible for data collection and arranging assessments and follow-up episodes specified by the protocol. The post holder will maintain consistent contact with participants and professionals to ensure the smooth and safe running of the study. They will ensure that specified milestones are achieved on time and demonstrate that high quality data is being collected and that the trial is being conducted according to the ethically approved protocol and ICH-GCP standards.

The post holder will work across all Dorset HealthCare Trust sites and will work with senior colleagues to ensure the safe conduct of clinical trials, which will include commercial research studies.

The post holder will be required to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
