Job summary

The Islington Integrated Gangs Team is a multi-agency team providing psychological and practical support to young people affected by gangs and youth violence.

As the embedded mental health clinician - you would be responsible for providing assessments and direct interventions to young people and their families as well as consultation and training to colleagues across the service.

In recognition of the fact that mainstream mental health offers have not met the needs of this cohort of young people - you will be offering a community based, young person led intervention which combines psychological interventions alongside practical support and advocacy - in line with the principals of the Integrate Approach, championed by MAC-UK. This post, whilst challenging, will give you the opportunity to work in a highly creative and flexible way - in which the young person's needs and wishes are prioritised for their wellbeing.

This post sits within the newly developed Islington Young People's Service, which also includes the Young People's Service in the Core Team and the Elevate Project (One of the strands of Islington Council's pioneering Young Black Men's Mental Health Programme). You will have regular individual and group clinical supervision from highly experienced clinicians, alongside opportunities for further training.
