Occupational Therapy One-Stop-Shop recruitment event - Wednesday 14th June 2023 - Meet our friendly team, receive a tour of our facilitates and a job interview - all in one day!
Welcoming soon to be, newly qualified and existing Occupational Therapists looking for a rewarding career in acute hospital services. Our rotations based at both the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital sites include the following specialty areas: Stroke (hyper acute and acute rehabilitation), Frailty at the front door (ED and AMU), Cardiology, Endocrinology, Care of the Elderly, Short stay, Respiratory, Orthopaedics and Surgery including amputees.
**We are also pleased to receive applications from those looking to Return to Practice**
Main duties of the job
As a 250 strong therapy department we pride ourselves on enabling all our employees the opportunity to develop and grow their skills, offering a career, not just a job. When joining our team you will be welcomed to attend our weekly band 5 training scheme, as well as receive learning specific to each rotational specialty area. Throughout each rotation you will be supported by your named supervisor who will also be a specialist in your rotational clinical area. Your supervisor will enable you to develop skills to work independently as well as alongside other therapy and MDT colleagues.
Our organisational vision is 'To provide excellent care for the communities we serve' and as a member of the Therapy services team your contribution to the profession of Occupational Therapy will be integral in enabling patients to receive holistic assessment to enable them to recover and be discharged from the hospital environment.
About us
We believe in developing leadership at all levels which is why we encourage all of our employees to engage in service development so that we can continually update and improve services provided to patients in keeping with evidence based practice. To enable you to expand your knowledge beyond our current band 5 rotational areas we would also invite successful candidates to spend time learning from our wider Occupational Therapy team including those working in the areas of hand therapy, critical care, neurology and as part of the Macmillan integrated therapy team.
We are also currently working with therapy partners within our integrated care system to offer cross-organisational band 5 rotational opportunities in neighbouring trusts who provide community therapy services, mental health services and specialist spinal and orthopaedic services to patients in our region.
All new graduates joining us will be supported through a preceptorship programme.
Your attendance to our weekly therapy band 5 CPD programme will be supported as part of the 10% allocation of time for supporting professional activity (SPA).
Clinical supervision, opportunity to attend internal and external training relevant to your role and career aspirations will also be supported. Please see separate information for more information regarding our offer including our Occupational therapy training and development pathway, strategy and career development structure.
