Job summary

The post holder will provide direct care to patients in the community post discharge from maternity/neonatal services. The post holder will also offersupport for children and young people and their parents/carers, working both directly with patients/families and supporting, directing and educating other members of the wider multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the community neonatal team at Diana princess of Wales Hospital for a Band 6 Neonatal Nurse.

You will be responsible for providing community follow up to vulnerable neonates post discharge.

You will need expert knowledge and competence assessing and caring for babies with both chronic and acute illness of babies once discharged home . Excellent communication skills with parents, babies families and colleagues are essential.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • RSCN/RN Child
  • Neonatal Critical Care Qualification (405)
  • Teaching and Assessing Qualification
  • Mentorship


Desirable

  • BSc Hons in Community Children's Nursing
  • NVQ Assessor


Occupational Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in clinical practice on a neonatal unit
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of continuing professional development


Desirable

  • Community Nursing experience
  • Evidence of developing education/training materials/presentations/packages
