Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) Health Visiting service aim to ensure that children aged 0-5 achieve their full potential. The role of the Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist for Safeguarding will support the commitment to safeguard children and maximise the best outcomes for children and their families.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, Health Visitor, to work as a specialist in safeguarding children. Working collaboratively with Flying Start, health visiting teams, Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, paediatrics and the corporate safeguarding team, providing specialist advice and individual support to all children and their families involved in child protection processes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to work across all areas of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board but be based in the Bridgend Health Visiting team.

The service is looking for an individual who is highly motivated to improve care and standards and enthusiastic to drive quality and innovation within the service. In addition to excellent communication and IT skills.

The post holder will be responsible for monitoring the quality and effectiveness of professional practise in relation to safeguarding children whilst assisting in collecting statistical data in relation to children experiencing child protection medicals and investigation.

They will support and empower practitioners in communicating highly sensitive and complex information to children and their families. Whilst ensuring partner agencies remain updated in respect of results and outcomes of investigations.

In collaboration with the corporate safeguarding team, the post holder will review, develop and implement safeguarding children training for CTMUHB employees, and take an active role in multi-agency training. They will also be involved in the development to strategic/operational policies, procedures and protocols to support in the delivery of services in respect of safeguarding children.

They will provide advice to employees in relation to safeguarding children in line with legislation and guidance.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • Registered Nurse or Midwife
  • Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, Health Visiting
  • Highly specialised Clinical Governance and Safeguarding knowledge to Masters level equivalent.
  • Clear understanding and specialist knowledge of Safeguarding People, Public Protection and Domestic Abuse
  • Clear view of governance frameworks for Safeguarding Children, Adult at risk and Domestic Abuse within organisation and with partners
  • Knowledge of national strategy and legislation in respect of safeguarding people and domestic abuse


Desirable

  • Teaching Qualification


Experience

Desirable

  • Significant post registration experience in relevant areas of practice
  • Specialised and in-depth professional knowledge relevant to spheres of responsibilities
  • Have experience within the last two years of working directly in multi-agency child protection and/or adult protection processes
  • Evidence of multi-agency working
