***12 Month Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity***

A vacancy has arisen for a Band 6 Urology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist. We are seeking an enthusiastic nurse who has the drive and passion to help achieve the target 28 faster diagnosis pathway for men suspected or diagnosed with prostate cancer. The right candidate will join an established, busy, and dedicated team caring for people with or suspected of having a cancer of the bladder, kidney, penis, prostate or testes. You will need to be compassionate, able to juggle an unpredictable workload and be a supportive team member.

The candidate may be required work across sites at both the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Trust and Cromer Hospital. We would be pleased to consider candidates seeking a job share opportunity.

Main duties of the job

The urology oncology team has links to JPUH, QEH and Cromer Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team. Being able to excel in a very busy environment, catering for a diversity of patients with urological cancers and nursing needs.

You will be required to work autonomously and in accordance with the standards set by the Nursing/Midwifery Professional Bodies and the Trust Nursing Policies and Guidelines. The role encompasses the provision of nurse led services in urology cancer clinics, for example, assisting the prostate biopsy clinic, PSA and Bladder chemotherapy clinic's. Other responsibilities may include contacting post operative patients, facilitating prostate surgery school, pre-assessment, holistic needs assessment and the delivery Patient Centred Follow Up clinics.

Previous urology experience is an advantage however applicants with the right aptitude will be considered. The successful applicant will have a structured and supported induction period and will be encouraged to access relevant training.
