This is a permanent full time , static post for a Band 6 Specialist Neuro Community Physiotherapist.

As a Band 6 you would provide care, advice and guidance in the treatment of others, when dealing with complex highly specialist neurological conditions. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have experience of treating patients within the Community setting. The Community Physiotherapy team treatshousebound patients within the City of Liverpool, or who are registered with a Liverpool GP.

The service is composed of 6 teams, General Community, North, Central and South Teams, Neuro, Care Home and Falls. Each team has a Band 7 Team Lead and are supported by Advanced Clinical Practitioners

As a Band 6 in the team you are be expected to hold your own caseload and be responsible for managing their care from assessment to discharge.

There is a supervision structure in place and as a Band 6 you would receive support from a Band 7 andbe expected to offer clinical supervision to one of the following groups of staff ,Band 5's, Assistant practitioners, Apprentice Physiotherapists or Student physiotherapists.

Main duties of the job

As a qualified physiotherapist, with current HCPC Registration the successful candidate would be required to assess and treat and be responsible for their own caseload of patients.

They would receive support from their team lead and supervisor, but would be expected to manage a diverse and often complex patient group, who have high comorbidities and require extensive liaison and communicating with the wider MDT. Within some of the teams the Band 6's support and develop their triage skills.

The Band 6's in the service support the team lead with supervision and are the primary source of support for student physiotherapist who come out on placement.

In addition they will be expected to deliver in service training both to the wider team and specifically to the Band 4 AP's who require on-going support to complete their competencies.

  • Demonstrable post registration/qualification experience.
  • Experience of successful multiagency working.
  • Demonstrable experience in relevant area of practice or equivalent.
  • Evidence of CPD/Short courses.
  • Awareness of current national and local agenda in health and social care.
  • Understanding of partnership working.
  • Understanding of the principles of care management.
  • Awareness of factors that contribute to good health and the importance of promoting these in line with organisational public health policy.
