An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and knowledgeable individual to lead an established Occupational Therapy team working across adult learning disability services. The team provides specialist OT assessment and interventions for adults with a learning disability in both an inpatient and community settings.
The successful applicant will have excellent engagement skills and be proactive in working with people who may have complex needs. They will be expected to make complex decisions, have good risk management skills and set a positive example to the wider team. They will provide leadership supervision, support and annual appraisal to the OT staff group a to ensure safe, effective, and responsive care is delivered. They will work with all stakeholders to contribute to learning and development of OT staff. They will also work closely with their professional lead peers, the CTLD team leader and senior leadership team.
The applicant will have demonstrable experience of working with individuals with complex needs and strong evidence of clinical professional development. They will share knowledge and skills with the team and wider service, and also be keen to learn from others. They will manage a caseload of individuals with a learning disability including those with complex needs, using evidenced based /person centred principles.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to provide effective holistic Occupational Therapy assessment and consultation at an advanced level of practice to enable people to develop functional abilities, and occupational functioning.
They will be responsible for clinical leadership of the occupational therapy team within learning disability services.
The candidate will be able to evidence project work that has impacted on practice and demonstrate a high level of communication, planning and abilities that can positively influence others, playing a crucial role in the development and review of the service.
