Job summary
Would you like to work for an integrated and forward-thinking team that are at the forefront in improving Orthopaedic pathways and service delivery?
We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist who wants to promote evidence-based practice and who has a passion for rehabilitation and teaching.
We work collaboratively to deliver a holistic Orthopaedic pathway for both trauma and elective Orthopaedics patients. Providing access to the right care, by the right person, at the right time.
The post holder will work between the Orthopaedic wards at Musgrove Park Hospital, this includes day case arthroplasties, elective work, trauma, silver trauma, an admissions unit and a private ward. Orthopaedics have recently developed their day case arthroplasty pathways and have established pathways for poly trauma, spinal cord injuries and elective surgery. The case load is varied. There is no On Call commitment but instead an Orthopaedic weekend rota and some evening work for the day case arthroplasties.
I would strongly recommend a visit if you wished to apply for the post so that you can view our facilities in this location, surrounding areas and meet our friendly team.
Main duties of the job
This role will see and treat complex orthopaedic injuries and a variety of elective orthopaedic surgery.. The post holder will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.
Undertake teaching and mentoring of other team members promoting clinical reasoning and best practice.
The post holder will also undertake a normal physiotherapy caseload
About us
As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, career progression and regular conversations, not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.
The benefits of working in Somerset include the idyllic countryside, with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You will get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone's throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London.
There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable. You will experience the best of both in Somerset, the countryside and the cosmopolitan - there is truly something for everyone!
Job description
Job responsibilities
The clinical work requires the post holder to have a broad but in-depth knowledge of the types of conditions and needs typically experienced by older people along with expert skills in improving and maintaining function in a range of conditions. The ideal candidate will also have experience in supervision and training of others including students and have specialist skills in assessment and therapeutic interventions.
Successful candidates will have a strong team work ethic, a sense of accountability accompanied by an ability to work under pressure at times.
In return we will provide the necessary support to ensure your development within the role and support our staff through a clear career pathway and encourage promotional opportunities. This support will occur through a mix of supervisions (clinical and management) provided by a Senior Physiotherapist, personal development plans and the candidates own active participation in supervision and education of others.
You will have the chance to enhance current service delivery and be involved in on-going service developments, including research, audits and reviews. The service is covered over seven days and you will be required to work weekends and early and late shift patterns on certain rotations.
