Are you a HCPC registered ODP or a first level Registered Nurse with the NMC? Would you like the challenge of scrubbing for complex technical cases within a supportive well led team or providing skilled support to our Anaesthetists?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit a Band 5 Theatre Practitioner to strengthen our Combined Specialities Team based at City. We practice multiskilling and are looking to recruit a dynamic Practitioner who wishes to develop their practice in either Anaesthesia and/or surgical scrub support.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a pro-active, dynamic team of nurses and ODP's, who offer the best standards of perioperative care. Every day is different - challenging but rewarding. We pride ourselves on team work, learning and being forward thinking.

Expectations are to deliver a high quality service, with patient safety a priority. You should be able to demonstrate effective team working and work to the highest standards of evidence based practice. A sense of humour and pride in your job is essential.

NUH is a Major Trauma Centre offering fantastic support to a diverse range of students and learners and therefore the successful applicant should either hold or be willing to work towards a level three mentorship qualification.

About us

We can support you to develop your own practice through exposure to complex techniques quite unique to Combined Specialities anaesthetics/surgery. We offer an in-house anaesthetic course for registered nurses.

The successful applicant will participate in the current Main Theatre rota which includes out of hours work, nights and weekend shifts. There is a commitment to Bank Holiday work and on-calls.
