Practice Education Facilitator-Operating Department and Theatre Focus

Band 7 Substantive Post

37.5 hours per week.

We are seeking 1 full time Practice Education Facilitator to join our Trust wide team to support the provision of high-quality learning environments for our Operating Department and Theatre services within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced healthcare professional with a keen interest in education to join the Professional Development & Education Team as a Practice Education Facilitator. Supporting learning environments to provide an excellent learning experience for all healthcare learners on placements within Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be an integral part of your role. You will support learners in practice from a wide variety of healthcare professions, ensuring that all learners receive an outstanding learning experience, which meets quality assurance standards and measurable regulatory body requirements. You will work with clinical staff at all levels, enabling them to provide support and guidance to learners. Key aspects of the role will be to develop the opportunities for interprofessional learning for students. Interested candidates should have highly effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a diverse team of professionals, able to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels and use own initiative. You must have excellent organisational skills and be able to meet tight deadlines. Experience of supporting and assessing healthcare learners is essential. Candidates will have a professional qualification and valid registration appropriate to his/her speciality, alongside a degree.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered with professional body (HCPC/NMC/GPHC)
• Graduate - health related studies
• Masters level qualification in related specialism or equivalent of relevant experience e.g., module at Level 7
• Teaching and education qualification

Desirable

• Appropriate Leadership and Management qualification

Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge of different methods/ styles for teaching and learning
• Detailed understanding of curriculum development including the generation of learning outcomes
• Current knowledge of professional regulatory body requirements and national policy
• Understanding of quality improvement methodology and outcome measurement
• Microsoft office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

Training and Experience

Essential

• Broad range of post qualifying with a number of years experience with evidence of working in a Band 6 post/ or senior leadership experience
• Extensive experience of teaching, supervising, and assessing healthcare learners in the learning environment
• Experience of having worked across professional and organisational boundaries
• Experience of developing and implementing evidence based new systems and procedures
• Practical experience of facilitating change, implementing new systems and procedures
• On-going recent evidence of leading clinical innovation or leading change within clinical practice

Desirable

• Experience of effective multidisciplinary working, decision making and conflict resolution
• Line management experience
