Job summary

Are you a qualified Nurse / OT or Social Worker who is enthusiastic about autism? Are you looking to work as part of a supportive team in a flexible working environment whilst earning HCAS?

Due to new funding we are looking for a part time Advanced Mental Health Practitioner (22.5 hours per week) to join our experienced and dedicated team in Slough to provide autism assessments across the age, ability and complexity range.

As part of the Autism Assessment Team, you will work closely with partnership agencies and voluntary services to facilitate continued support and advice for families pre-assessment and beyond diagnosis. You will also provide online support pre-assessment and post-diagnosis via the innovative BHFT online platform 'SHaRON' (Support Hope and Resources Online Network).

For this role we are really looking for somebody who shares our passion for neurodiversity and who is motivated by their drive to deliver the highest quality care while ensuring the best possible patient experience.You will need to be able to work autonomously at pace as well as being effective in managing your time, workload, and priorities.

This role can offer flexible part time hours between 9-5, Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

  • Conducting autism assessments for children and young people from 2-18 years, across the ability range. All assessments are conducted with 2 clinicians
  • Complex and second opinion autism assessments
  • Identifying when onward referral is required and managing this
  • Provision of high-quality assessment reports with recommendations
  • Training, consultation and supervision and clinical moderation on our online support platform

The \must haves for you to be considered for this role:
  • Recognised core qualification as listed in the Job Description and Person Specification along with appropriate registration
  • Previous experience in assessment and/or intervention with autistic children and young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational and time management skill

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Masters level qualification or recognised equivalent qualification in one of the core mental health professions: oRegistered Mental Health Nurse (NMC). or oOccupational Therapy degree level qualification and registered with HCPC. or oRegistered Social Worker with relevant social work qualification. or oQualified Systemic Family Therapist Masters level UKCP registered. or oQualified Psychotherapist registered with professional body i.e. ACP approved Child Psychotherapist. oOther qualified Health professional with relevant post graduate qualification. Or Post graduate doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC. With registration with HCPC or other professional body where required


Continuous Professional Development

Desirable

  • A supervisory qualification in the relevant professional discipline


Previous Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in the assessment and/or intervention with children and young people on the autism spectrum
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children and adolescents and their families across a range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in-patient settings.
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessment and risk management plans.
  • Experience of hard-to-reach diverse community groups and individuals with emerging complex needs, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities and safeguarding.
  • Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment.


Desirable

  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or consultation.


Additional Requirements

Essential

  • Car owner/driver and possess full UK driver's licence or evidence of ability to travel independently between locations to fulfil the requirements of the position.
