Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised individual with an interest in research to provide clinical trial support to the Research and Innovation team based at the Trust's research site at Haywood Hospital, Stoke on Trent.
The role supports rheumatology and musculoskeletal research, as well as research in other physical health specialty areas including vaccines and long-term conditions.

Main duties of the job
The role involves supporting with the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data, including collection and management of samples. The successful candidate must be able to travel across the Trust geography, including to our research sites at Cheadle, north Staffordshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates wishing to develop their research expertise to work on a variety of interesting projects within a friendly and supportive team. We can offer a research nurse development programme which aims to support progression from AfC band 5 to band 6.

Job description
Job responsibilities
- To work as a Research Nurse, undertaking clinical assessments and interventions according to the protocol provided for the study being delivered.
- To work towards working autonomously in all areas of practice relating to clinical research, developing the ability to assist in the planning and management of the portfolio of clinical research studies, with the support of the senior team.
- To read and process research protocols, patient information and GP letters and ensure that information about clinical trials is clearly and appropriately communicated to research participants.
- To ensure that all study documents are kept up to date, version-controlled and appropriately stored; also ensure that all data queries and audit actions are followed up and completed in a reasonable timescale.
- Assist with the evaluation of patient eligibility for entry to clinical studies by co-ordinating pre-study tests, obtaining results and arranging appropriate appointments according to the study protocol. Assist with ensuring that subsequent study specific investigations are undertaken as required by the protocol.
