We are delighted to offer an exciting new opportunity to work as a Specialty Doctor in a split post between the liaison and community mental health team for the Mid and North Hampshire area.

You would be working with fun, compassionate teams that deliver high quality care to people experiencing mental illness. The team are highly skilled and offer a wide range of NICE-approved interventions. The team is based at the CMHT base in Andover as well as the liaison teams in Winchester and Basingstoke.

This is a three-year fixed-term contract which has a rotational element to it on a yearly basis and supports application for CESR. There is flexibility to work whole or split days, and this can be agreed in consultation with the clinical teams.

Main duties of the job

*work with other senior clinical team members to ensure that colleagues understand the professional status and specialty of all team members, their roles and responsibilities in the team, and who is responsible for each aspect of patient care

*communicate effectively with colleagues within and outside the team, ensuring that arrangements are in place for relevant information to be passed on to the team promptly

*work with other senior clinical team members to ensure that each patient's care is properly coordinated and managed

*work with other senior clinical team members to set up and maintain systems to identify and manage risks in the team's area of responsibility

*work with other senior clinical team members to monitor and regularly review the team's performance and take steps to correct deficiencies and improve quality

*work with other senior clinical team members to deal openly and supportively with problems in the conduct, performance or health of team members through Trust procedures

*participate in business planning for the locality and, as appropriate, contribute to the broader strategic and planning work of the Trust.

*Join and contribute to the Medical Advisory Committee.

*Attend and contribute to the fortnightly divisional senior medical staff meeting.

*Contribute to the care planning for those being admitted or discharged from hospital.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised basic Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice
  • 4 years post graduate training since first obtaining registration including adequate experience in the specialty OR shall have obtained experience and competencies.


Desirable

  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Section 12 Approval
  • Relevant Post graduate qualifications


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 12 months experience in adult mental health
  • Experience of assessing and treating patients in the inpatient/community psychiatric settings
  • Knowledge of UK Hospital Systems (or equivalent)
  • Experience of Multidisciplinary team working
  • Experience of risk assessment
  • Knowledge and evidence of participation in CPD.


Desirable

  • Experience of active involvement in service change and development.
