An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nurse Colposcopist/Hysteroscopist to join our Gynaecology team. This is a newly funded post within our gynae services and we are looking to recruit an experience nurse into our friendly and evolving colposcopy and hysteroscopy team. We are looking for someone who can develop and integrate this role into our fantastic services offered within Gynae.

What are we looking for?

We are looking to recruit a experienced qualified nurse colposcopist/hysteroscopist that is currently practising and undertaking these procedures competently. The ideal candidate will be a qualified nurse with NMC registration and be an accredited Colposcopist with BSCCP and be an accredited Hysteroscopist with BSGE/RCOG.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload (patients/service-users) and will provide highly specialist nursing support, advice, education and/or care to that specific group. They will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, including setting of standards of care, and support in establishing evidence-based practice within colposcopy and hysteroscopy.

The Nurse Hysteroscopist/Colposcopist will independently assess, diagnose, and overall manage the care of women referred to the hysteroscopy/colposcopy clinic in accordance with National, Regional and local hysteroscopy/colposcopy protocols. This involves a key responsibility to audit the overall performance of the service against National guidelines (BSCCP, BSGE, NICE Jan 2007, SIGN 2002 and RCOG 2008).

Education,Qualification

Essential

• Degree or equivalent level of education or experience
• Appropriate NMC Registration (RGN/RM/RN Child/RSCN)
• Accredited Colposcopist BSCCP - active
• Accredited Hysteroscopist BSGE/RCOG - active

Desirable

• Evidence of further study/knowledge at Masters level or equivalent in a health-related subject
• Leadership or management development qualification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

• Significant post registration experience at band 7, including experience of working in a relevant clinical specialty
• Experience of assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients/service users/staff demonstrating knowledge of specific needs in hysteroscopy and colposcopy
• Experience of working in an gynae speciality
• Highly developed specialist skills underpinned by theory and experience.
• Highly developed analytical skills for complex situations requiring analysis.
