We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Quality Lead, Aseptic Services to join our fantastic team at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust on the outskirts of Skipton. As the Advanced Pharmaceutical Scientist you will lead the Pharmaceutical Quality Systems for the unlicensed Pharmacy Aseptics Unit at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust as an integral member of the Aseptics team.

Main duties of the job

This post will work with the Lead Pharmacist, Technical Services in ensuring that all medicines prepared in the Pharmacy Aseptics Unit is carried out in accordance with relevant regulations and GMP, focusing on the Pharmaceutical Quality Systems.

Provide input into the co-ordination, development and delivery of highly specialist education and training on aspects of Good Manufacturing Practice and other QA/QC practices and procedures within Pharmacy Aseptic Services and Trust wide where appropriate.

Co-ordinate and develop training programmes, where required, to complement areas of specialist knowledge, research and practice.

Utilise highly specialist knowledge, skills and experience to critically appraise deviations, analyse data and identify solutions to optimise technical processes and implement strategies for continuous improvement.

Job responsibilities

This post will work with the Lead Pharmacist, Technical Services in ensuring that all medicines prepared in the Pharmacy Aseptics Unit is carried out in accordance with relevant regulations and GMP, focusing on the Pharmaceutical Quality Systems.

Provide input into the co-ordination, development and delivery of highly specialist education and training on aspects of Good Manufacturing Practice and other QA/QC practices and procedures within Pharmacy Aseptic Services and Trust wide where appropriate.

Under the leadership of the Lead Pharmacist, Technical Services, ensure all records within the electronic Pharmaceutical Quality System are complete and accurate. Reviews and develops the system as required.

Performs and trains others to successfully perform quality investigations, risk assessment, root cause analysis, CAPA management and impact assessments.

Review, analyse and develop periodic Assurance Reports and associated data in relation to the Pharmaceutical Quality System as required, providing relevant guidance to service managers.

Undertake research to inform continuous improvement and innovation across the Pharmacy Aseptics service and beyond.

Provide highly specialist advice and guidance on Pharmacy Aseptics Services and Quality Management Systems

Provide support for the Lead Pharmacist, Technical Services in the investigation and actions from errors and incidents and response to audits.

Ensure aseptic preparation is carried out efficiently and responsively and in compliance with current legislation and standards and the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of a suitable training programme and delivery of this programme within MMPS Quality Control / Quality Assurance department.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• oHonours degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences (or similar)
• oFurther education in Pharmacy Technical Services e.g. STP or PTQA

Desirable

• oPostgraduate certificate or diploma in relevant field
• oManagement and Leadership Training

Experience

Essential

• oSignificant experience of pharmacy technical service delivery
• oSpecialist experience of dealing with highly complex pharmaceutical issues which requires analysing information from a range of sources
• oExperience of developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies
• oExperience in designing and managing audit programmes
• oExperience of providing education and training.

• oAccuracy checking experience
• oExperience in preparing and presenting at meetings

• oGood dispensing, distribution and manufacturing practice
• oHighly advanced knowledge and understanding principles of current GMP
