Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Staff Nurse/ODP to join our Operating department scrub team.
We have a vacancy for a Band 6 Senior staff Nurse/ ODP for the scrub team.
You will be a registered nurse with a post registration qualification in peri-operative practice or a qualified ODP.
You will have experience as staff nurse/ODP at band 5 and be skilled in a number of surgical specialties'. You will have leadership qualities and good communication skills. A speciality interest in Orthopaedic Implant Surgery would be advantageous
The post involves late duty.
Main duties of the job
To act as a team leader to an identified group of staff, monitoring anddocumenting the development of their clinical skills- Contribute to smooth running of the theatre list.- To establish, lead and maintain high standard of pre/peri andpostoperative care- To contribute positively towards the delivery of a cost effectiveservice, adjusting staffing levels to meet demand and assisting theclinical co-ordinators to keep within agreed resources
In order to meet the needs of the Trust's services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work.

To assist with the ongoing organisation of the unit, includingresponsibility for a designated area of practice within department on adaily basis, to ensure optimal theatre utilisation at all times, facilitatingtimely admission and discharge of patients
To deputise in the absence of band 7 Lead Practitioner
Develop and monitor performance of junior staff within Theatres
Participate in the development of staff, ensuring appropriate skillmix and uphold agreed standards of care.
As appropriate, participate in disciplinary, grievance and absencemanagement procedure
To actively support the process of risk management and health &safety upholding relevant policies to promote this and ensuringincidents are reported appropriately (in writing) and helping identifyways of preventing errors and accidents to both patients and staff.
To participate in the allocation of staff in designated area ofresponsibility.
To participate in the on call rota

- Substantial years of continuous recent experience as Band 5 scrub practitioner in acute setting.
Desirable
- 1st level NMC Registered general Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner- HCPC
- Recognised theatre course or equivalent experience in wide range of settings
