Job summary
The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is looking for a dietitian experienced in diabetes care or wishing to gain further experience in diabetes to work alongside our multi-disciplinary diabetes team. The post holder would work within diabetes 3 days per week in outpatient settings (part time applications are welcomed) For a fulltime post, the other 2 days could be plus either inpatient acute medicine, or general dietetic outpatient clinics to be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate
This would be supporting the dietetic service across its sites at Royal Stoke / County Hospital and Shelton Primary Care Centre.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be mainly based from our Royal Stoke site working in a team of dietitians and specialist diabetes nurses covering outpatient areas , they will link with the adult acute team at both sites and may be required to work at County Hospital at request of the Acute team leads or UHNM Chief Dietitian. The successful applicant will have relevant clinical experience in diabetes care. The post holder will advise outpatients in face to face, telephone and virtual group sessions. This will include covering gestational diabetes clinic,s.You will develop and take part in patient education events, including Carbohydrate Counting groups, student training and staff teaching. You will support the team in audit and service developments. This post is ideal for a dietitian wishing to further develop their clinical expertise in diabetes with an optional slant of inpatient acute medicine or primary care; we have a good track record of introducing our dietitians to specialities and supporting career aspirations.
