Job summary

To be responsible for spiritual, pastoral and religious care for patients, relatives, carers and staff in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board in accordance with the Spiritual Care Standards of the NHS Wales, Welsh Government 2010 and the Healthcare Standard 2015. Participating in a 24hr, 7 day a week out of hours on call Rota, responding to requests for end-of-life care or significant spiritual distress appropriate to patient need, and to be an active and visible presence on wards.

Main duties of the job

To support and work alongside other members of the chaplaincy team and volunteers, also maintaining and developing spiritual healthcare through CTMUHB.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Skills, Qualification, Experience, Knowledge

Essential

  • A degree in theological education and/or healthcare chaplaincy
  • Ordained or equivalent from their faith group and be accredited by that faith community.
  • Knowledge of and assent to the Standard for Spiritual Care Service in NHS Wales
  • Knowledge of and respect for the Spiritual and religious needs of patients and staff from other faith communities
  • Experience of Healthcare Chaplaincy
  • Significant experience in a pastoral setting
  • Experience supporting people in distressing circumstances
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and be a good team worker
  • Warm, approachable, enthusiastic, prayerful, reflective.
  • Able to stay calm in highly stressful situations
  • Respectful and non-judgmental of people who hold different lifestyles and religious positions
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work in a team
  • Be able to move easily and safely around a busy hospital
  • Be able to fulfil duties with consistency and regularity
