Brief Description of the Role:
This role is for a hospital optometrist who is ideally experienced in both paediatric refraction clinics and corneal monitoring clinics. The former requires confidence in paediatric cycloplegic refractions and fundus assessment. The latter requires refraction of keratoconic patients, monitoring of keratoconic and post-graft patients and assessment of Pentacam topographies. Both clinics are required on a Thursday. The successful applicant will ideally have experience with Medisoft and Cerner electronic patient records and be in a position to manage patients independently from week 1. Preference will be given to candidates with previous hospital experience, however, suitable candidates without the aforementioned experience may be considered.
The initial job plan is as above, however, the optometry service predominantly undertakes a wide range of co-management clinics in support of the Ophthalmology Department. These also include the independent assessment and co-management of patients in the following areas: glaucoma, cataract, diabetic eye disease, macular diseases, and acute referral.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individual who is able to work as part of a wider team in the delivery of a range of comprehensive optometric services.
